Mary Tinnell Martin, 97, of Appomattox passed away on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at Appomattox Health and Rehab. She was the wife of the late Asa Terrell Martin.

Born in Appomattox County on October 24, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Charles Henry Tinnell and Rosa Johnson Tinnell. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher and member of the UMW. She had retired as a supervisor with Courtland Manufacturing Company.

She is survived by two sons, Earl Wayne Martin and wife, Sandra, and Donald Ray “Duck” Martin and wife, Linda all of Appomattox; three grandchildren, Diron Martin and wife, Lauren, Tina Roark and husband, Johnny, and Shana Martin Richardson and husband, Lee; five great-grandchildren, Daniel Ryan Evans, Avery Roark, and Carsyn Roark, Lane Richardson, and Marin Richardson; two brothers, C.H. Tinnell, and Ryland Tinnell and wife, Mary both of Chester; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Rebecca Bryant and Doris Franklin.

A funeral service will be held 11 am, Friday, November 4, 2022, at Robinson Funeral Home with Rev. Norman Ramsey officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm, Thursday November 3 at Robinson Funeral Home and other times at the home of her son and daughter-in-law, 254 Annie St., Appomattox, Va. 24522.
