John Thomas Dowdy Jr., 70, of Pamplin, VA, passed away on Tuesday, December 17, 2019. He was preceded in death by his father John Thomas Dowdy Sr. and a sister Susan D. Scruggs.

He is survived by his mother Nellie Wilkerson, his wife Janice Glenn Dowdy, daughter Joy Marie Dowdy Martin and nephew David Scruggs.

A funeral service was held on Saturday, December 21, 2019, at 3 p.m. in Walkers Presbyterian Church in Pamplin, VA, with interment to follow in church cemetery. Family received friends one hour prior to service starting at 2 p.m. in the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to Pamplin Volunteer Fire Dept. and EMS.
