On Monday evening around 10 p.m., several fire departments in Campbell and Bedford Counties responded to a possible explosion at Forest Level Baptist Church in Forest.
"I heard it was a LP gas leak and when heat kicked on, it sparked," said Chris McDonald, a fire fighter with Bedford Volunteer Fire Department who was not on the scene.
McDonald said no injuries were reported and the structure is unsafe for entry. " The structure was deemed extremely unsafe and all units were removed and placed outside the collapse zone," noted a post on Bedford Fire Department's Facebook page. All fire fighters exercised extreme caution working their way through the building," according to Fire Marshal George.
McDonald said the fire is still under investigation by the Fire Marshal.
McDonald noted that Bedford Volunteer Fire Department, Forest Volunteer Fire Department, Boonsboro Fire Department, Brookville-Timberlake Fire Department and Bedford County Fire and Rescue responded to the scene.
More information will be provided as it becomes available.
