General registrar, director of elections to retire July 1

Appomattox County’s longtime general registrar and director of elections Sabrina Smith is set to retire on July 1 after 30 years of service.

Smith began her career in the registrar’s office back in February of 1984. Unknown to her at the time, another first would mark 1984 — Smith was expecting her first child.
