On Main Street in Appomattox, the effects of the coronavirus-related stay-at-home orders and how businesses can or cannot operate has been visible for quite some time.

Baine’s Books and Coffee — the local coffee shop known for bringing local artists and musicians together over a cup of joe — is no exception.

Main Street businesses are quiet these days. The local coffee shop that was often a source of coffee and Wi-Fi for many visitors had reduced its services for takeout orders online. Thursday open mic (hosted by Rick Johnson) no longer grace’s the indoor corner of the lonely store.

But that hasn’t stopped Baine’s from making the most out of these quarantine days.
