More than 50 people filed into the Appomattox Inn and Suites conference room Saturday for the citizens’ town hall meeting hosted by the local GOP committee.
The meeting featured a presentation by the committee’s treasurer, Karen Angulo, on Appomattox County’s budget. A special guest also was present — S. Chris Anders, president of the Virginian Constitutional Conservatives — who addressed concerns surrounding the Second Amendment and strategies for keeping elected officials accountable.
“If you care about Appomattox and what’s going on in Virginia, welcome,” Angulo addressed the room.
In her presentation, Angulo discussed the county debt — their current debt, plans for borrowing more debt, real estate taxes and the impact on the citizens’ personal finances.
