There is no better feeling than retiring after a successful career and then coming back and contributing to the former employer that you care so deeply about.

On Thursday, June 15, former Education Outreach Specialist for Appomattox’s American Civil War Museum (ACWM) Rod Stanley gave a thought-provoking presentation to many attentive attendees about Farmville’s Israel Hill Community.

“While working and now volunteering at the ACWM, my day was not complete without engaging with our visitors concerning the complicated, multifaceted history of the Civil War and its consequences,” Stanley said.

The event meant a lot to Stanley, encouraged conversation, and taught attendees valuable and surprising insights.
