William L. “Bill” Harvey had returned to his native Appomattox after retiring from a full-time law enforcement career of 40-plus years. Most of those professional years, he also published several hundred articles in professional publications.

“Colleagues would say to me, ‘OK, I read your articles, now when are you going to write a book?’ This was a challenge, but I have recently self-published two books now on Amazon,” Harvey said.

The first one, a science fiction novel, “She Liked Purple: The Transition from Savannah to NOVA,” which is the story of a young, failed art student paralegal in Savannah, left with no support from her rich family but is drawn back to Virginia through a secretive inheritance.
