Wednesday, Feb. 15 was School Resource Officer Appreciation Day. Appomattox County School Resource Officers (SRO) received a Certificate of Recognition letter from Virginia Governor Glenn Youngkin.

The five SROs assigned to Appomattox County Public Schools, as employees of the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office, are the following:

• Sgt. Rodney Brisentine at Appomattox County High School

• Sgt. Andre Austin, at Appomattox Middle School

• Deputy Daniel Gunter at Appomattox Elementary School

• Deputy Norman Reynolds at Appomattox Primary School

• Deputy C. Walker (not pictured) at Appomattox County High School

The certificate states that more than 800 School Resource Officers are employed in Virginia schools and are “critical members of the educational community who dedicate their lives to keeping students and schools safe.”
