Women's Bible Study
COME and SEE, The Gospel of John A community women's Bible study, COME and SEE in the gospel of John, will be held weekly at the Jamerson Memorial Library on Main Street in Appomattox each Friday from 11:00 to 12:00 beginning February 5th. 4-H Homeschool Clover Club
The 4-H Homeschool Clover Club is a member run organization where children learn leadership through adult mentoring and life skills through discussion of upcoming events, voting for officers when necessary, doing practice presentations, having social/game time, science fair competition, doing community service projects and taking classes on science related topics. We meet the 1st Thursday of the month for a business meeting and social time and the 3rd Thursday of the month for a science class at the Campbell County Extension Office from 2pm-4pm. CVACL
Central Virginia Alliance for Community Living, Inc. (CVACL) (formerly Central Virginia Area Agency on Aging) is an organization that provides a variety of services such as transportation, home delivered meals and nutrition education for adults over 60 in Appomattox and surrounding counties. Paws to Read
Campbell County Public Library would like to invite children ages 5 to 12 to the “Paws to Read” program. Children can come to the Rustburg Library every Thursday from 3:30-4:30 p.m. and read to “Bailey the Library Dog”. “Paws to Read” attracts children from the entire spectrum of reading levels. The dogs and their owners who volunteer their time have been certified in pet therapy. It has been observed that children’s reading abilities improve as they gain confidence by reading to dogs. Prepared Childbirth/Lamaze Classes
Southside Community Hospital offers Prepared Childbirth Classes for expectant parents. A new class begins every 12 weeks with classes running for six consecutive weeks. The classes meet on Tuesday evenings from 7:00 - 9:00 pm in the First Floor Conference Room of the hospital. Topics covered in the classes include the following: conditioning exercises, relaxation and breathing techniques, stages and phases of labor, when to go to the hospital, delivery options, anesthesia information, breast or bottle feeding helps and adjustments to parenthood. AWAG Spay/Neuter Transport
AWAG & the South Central Spay/Neuter Clinic offer low-cost services, plus free van transportation to and from the clinic, for Appomattox and surrounding area residents. Reservations are taken by PRE-PAID REGISTRATION, at the Appomattox Jamerson Memorial Library, on Thursdays from 4-7 PM (when the Library is open). Do not bring your pet to the library. Bring any adoption papers and vaccine records with you. Pets must be 10 weeks or older and weigh at least 3 lbs. For surgery. Virginia Law requires that pets 12 weeks and older have current Rabies vaccine. Vet proof of this vaccine must be provided at registration or the vaccine will be administered at the Clinic for $8. Other vaccines and testing available at reduced prices. Special AWAG discounted spay/neuter prices are: Female dog - $65, Male dog - $60, Female cat - $55, Male cat - $40.
