The Appomattox County Board of Supervisors (BOS) accepted the PPEA (Public-Private Education Facilities and Infrastructure Act) Comprehensive Agreement with Jamerson-Lewis Construction for renovation of the Historical Courthouse building on Court Street in Appomattox. The motion made to sign of the agreement was approved by a 4-1 vote.
According to the meeting’s official agenda, the proposal had been accepted at the Aug. 21 meeting and a public hearing was held Sept. 18. The agreement is posted on the county’s website at www.appomattoxcountyva.gov/Home/Components/News/News/338/18?backlist=%2f.
At the Sept. 18 meeting, William Cook, president of Jamerson-Lewis Construction discussed an overview of the PPEA proposal. The BOS then voted unanimously to proceed with the agreement’s preparation.
“We’re excited for this opportunity to move this project forward to the next level of development and find a long-term best use for the iconic landmark that is the Historical Courthouse,” Cook said.
