Sidewalk replacement underway on Church Street

A sidewalk replacement project is currently underway on Court Street in Appomattox on the block between Harrell Street and Atwood Street, near Wilkes Jewelers.

Caution is advised when driving or walking through the area.

A worker at the construction site said the project will bring the sidewalk to ground level.

Toney Construction Inc., of Forest, is handling the demolition phase of the project. The worker at the site said another company will be handling the reconstruction phase.

At the time of this post, the Times Virginian has been unable to reach management at the Town of Appomattox Public Works department to find out who will handle the reconstruction phase.
