Just after 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, the Appomattox Volunteer Fire Department was dispatched to assist Gladstone Volunteer Fire Department with a two-car accident with one occupant trapped in the vehicle in the proximity of 7408 Wildway Road in Gladstone.

AVFD crews arrived and extricated the patient from the vehicle and transferred the patient to the Delta Response Team. The patient was transported to a nearby landing zone so the patient could be airlifted to the hospital for treatment of serious injuries.

The crash is under investigation by the Virginia State Police.

Names of individuals involved in the crash were not provided.

Units on scene were AVFD Engine 1, Engine 3 and Crash 9, Delta Response Team, the Appomattox County Sheriff’s Office and Virginia State Police.
