Heavy rain from the previous night and the additional but sporadic drizzles that showered Appomattox County on Saturday made for a muddy experience at the Appomattox County Historical Society’s Third Annual Oyster Festival at Clover Hill Village.
In spite of the mud and rain, the festival welcomed many visitors who were keen on enjoying the Virginian seafood and festivities from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
As volunteers and visitors sloshed through the mud, Tom Adams, president and chairman of the Appomattox County Historical Society, could be seen distributing hay bales among the muddier patches of ground and vendor spaces at the village.
