Merlie Joyce Ferguson Reynolds, passed in peace on Sunday, July 1, 2018, just 8 days shy of her 79th birthday at Appomattox Health & Rehab Center.
Left to cherish her memory are her daughters, Rita (David) Salmon of Suffolk, Va. and Tina (Eddie Lynn) Martin of Concord, N.C., and special “other daughter”, Sharon (Bobby) Mobley of Appomattox. She was “Granny” to Emma and Spencer Salmon, Nick Mobley and Brooke M. Baldwin. She will be missed by her sisters, Leola “Tootsie” Henderson of Concord, VA and Virginia Saville of Lynchburg and her brother, Eddie Ferguson of Appomattox; along with many nieces and nephews.
She will reunite in heaven with her other sisters, Alma Almond, Dorothy Carter, and Shirley Childress; her brother, Norman L. Ferguson; and with her parents Viola S. and Edward I. Ferguson.
She was a long standing member of New Hope Baptist Church and later Grace Hills Baptist Church.
She worked for many years at Appomattox Garment Factory in Appomattox where she made lots of lifetime friends. Merlie never met a stranger and could talk to anyone and make them smile.
The family wishes to thank Appomattox Health and Rehabilitation Center for their care during the last few years and especially Candice Younger for her compassion and honesty.

A memorial service will be held at 11 am, Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at Robinson Funeral Home by Rev. Daryl Martin and Rev. Jerry Childress. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.
