Frances Susan Holliday Phillips, 92, of Appomattox, VA passed away Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at Babcock Manor in Virginia.

Born May 5, 1926, in Low Moor, VA she was the daughter of the late Virgil Cecil, and Mary Eva Adwell Holliday.

Frances was a retired cook for Mount Hope Elementary School. She was a loyal and faithful member of the Mount Hope Baptist Temple, and a current member of Grace Hills Baptist Church in Appomattox, VA.

Preceding her in death were her loving husband, John Julian Phillips, Sr.; three brothers, Cecil, Merle, and Guy Holliday; two sisters, Ina Parrish and Fleta Bryant; and a son-in-law, Pete Mobley.

Those left to cherish her memory include her loving children, Charles (Stephanie) Phillips, Linda Pennington (Bill) Peters, Sandra Pennington Mobley, Wayne Phillips, and John (Nancy) Phillips; six grandchildren, James Peters, David (Karen) Peters, Scott Mobley, Mark Mobley, Sarah (Jacobo) Phillips, Haley Phillips Scott (Dorinda) Phillips, and Julie (Brad) Phillips Patterson; and many great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

The funeral service was held at 1 p.m. Sunday, September 30, 2018, at Tyree Funeral Home in Mount Hope with Chaplain George Romage officiating. Burial followed at High Lawn Memorial Park.

Visitation was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, September 29, 2018, at the funeral home.
