Florence Marie Gordon, 93, transitioned from this earthly life to her heavenly home on Monday, September 17, 2018 at Curis (Avante’) Nursing Home, Lynchburg, VA. Mrs. Gordon received her BS degree in education from Youngstown College and taught elementary school for many years. She dedicated her life’s work to her church, St. Andrewes A.M.E. in Ohio. She was an outstanding seamstress, and her favorite pastime was word search puzzles. Living in Virginia, she attended The Greater Peaceful Zion Baptist church and was very active until her health declined.
She was married to the love of her life, the late Reuben J. Gordon and they were married for 62 years.
She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughter, Grace D. (Rev. Walter) Randolph of Phenix, VA, with whom she made her home, her son, Gary (Jean) Gordon of Youngstown, four grandchildren, six great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral Services will be held September 22, 2018 at St. Andrewes A.M.E. Church, Youngstown, Ohio.
