Ralph Lee “R. L.” Harris, Jr., 57, of North Creek Road, Appomattox, died suddenly on Tuesday, June 26, 2018, in Grand Island, Nebraska. He was the loving husband of Sharon DeMuth Harris for 33 years.

Born in Lynchburg, Va., on September 1, 1960, he was the son of the late Mary Helen Childers Harris and the late Ralph L. Harris, Sr. He was an employee of Greif Brothers Corporation and a farmer. R.L. was actively involved with the Virginia 4-H Shooting Sports Education and Friends of the NRA. He was a member of Red Oak Baptist Church.

In addition to his wife he is survived by his two sons, Kemper Hudson Harris and Graham Lee Harris and fiancée, Kelli Lynn Hess all of Appomattox; two sisters, Cindy Harris of Richmond and Teresa Henderson of Pocatello, Idaho; and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service was held at 3 p.m., Sunday, July 1, in New Hope Baptist Church by the Rev. Steve Bradshaw. Burial will follow in the Harris Family Cemetery.

The family received friends at Robinson Funeral Home on Saturday, June 30, from 5 until 7 p.m. and other times at the residence.
